  BREAKFAST, BRUNCH, BUFFET

Islanders are inordinately fond of the three "Bs" — breakfast, brunch, buffet. When The Advertiser sent out a call for nominees for best breakfast spot a while back, we got an avalanche, with many strong opinions. And because we are so volume- and value-conscious, brunches and buffet spreads have strong appeal.

The Willows

With its dining pavilions set over a tranquil koi pond, this venerable restaurant holds a special place in the heart of Hawai'i. The buffet characterizes classic Island foodways with its Hawaiian food (laulau, lomi salmon, kalua pig), kama'aina-style curry with condiments and local favorite hot dishes. 'Ono loa.
