2006 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - BEST ETHNIC RESTAURANT: CRITICS' CHOICE

Every year, Advertiser readers are asked to vote for their favorite restaurants in the 'Ilima Awards poll. Meanwhile, our in-house food experts debate to select the critics' choice 'Ilimas, primarily focused on restaurants recently reviewed or revisited. With a few exceptions, categories change each year to keep readers interested and keep the winner list fresh.

BEST ETHNIC RESTAURANT: CRITICS' CHOICE
Little Village Noodle House

Little Village has weathered a blizzard of media attention and wall-to-wall diners over the past five years, and managed not to lose its initial reputation for helpful service and excellent food. The key is experience: This is the third restaurant for founders Ken and Jen Chan; it was Jen who masterminded this more upscale, pan-China restaurant. We can honestly say we've never had a bad dish here. We always enjoy the Shanghai noodles, salt-and-pepper pork chop, spicy shrimp, honey walnut shrimp, whole fish, volcano pork chop, shredded beef, orange chicken, garlic spinach ... oh, everything.
