CASUAL DINING
| When we don't want to dress up, when the budget is a bit busted, when we're hanging out with the gang, these are the restaurants we choose. There's considerable variation among them in price, food style and atmosphere, but all cultivate a relaxed feeling and, in most cases, there's no need for reservations or anything fancier than T-shirt and slippers. |

Ninnikuya, The Garlic Restaurant |
This niche restaurant, sister to one in Japan, brings you the world of garlic — international garlic specialties as well as inventions of their own. Owner-chef Eiyuki Endo goes through 20 pounds of fresh garlic a night, preparing, among other things, Black Angus steaks served on a sizzling hot stone with garlic mashed potatoes. Try garlic at dessert, such as sorbet with light garlic sauce.
