2007 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - BEST CASUAL RESTAURANTS PEOPLE'S CHOICE
Big City Diner
In less than 10 years, Lane Muraoka's Big City Diner has gone from being a new, cool place to eat local grinds to a five-location institution. In 2007, the company added a Pearl City branch. The comfort food with a Pacific-Asian twist translates to Island favorites such as Grandma's Incredible Kim Chee Fried Rice, Mama-san's Meatloaf, Paniolo Chicken Salad and, at breakfast, French toast made with Ani's cinnamon bread. The restaurants are busy at lunch and dinner and for weekend breakfasts; service is fast and cheerful. Each location has its own specials, for example, weekday “Happy Patio” takes 50 percent off of pupu with a two-drink minimum, from 3 to 6 p.m.
