P.F. Chang's China Bistro
Last year, readers voted Romano's Macaroni Grill the best new restaurant, and you again went for a Mainland chain. P.F. Chang's is like a Farrell's for grown-ups with crowd-pleasing Chinese food that has some novel presentations and twists. Big fruity cocktails and wines add a party feel to a tableful of tender dumplings stuffed with fresh-tasting shrimp, double pan-fried noodles in a rich, slightly tomatoey sauce and sweet orange peel beef. And in a departure from the typical Chinese restaurant, P.F. Chang's makes you feel like you're on a big night out, with its banquette curving like a wave around the walls, stone warrior sculptures gazing serenely down at diners, a mural that resembles a silk scroll painting, and sophisticated black furnishings. Another mojito and more crab wontons, please!
