Diamond Head Market & Grill
Diamond Head Market & Grill owner-chef Kelvin Ro's favorite meal is breakfast. This year at his one-of-a-kind deli/gourmet market/bakery/oka-zuya/fast-food shop, he finally added the most important meal of the day to the takeout menu. Already popular for lunch, dinner, takeout, heat-and-eat entrees and baked goods, Diamond Head Market & Grill is now open for the dawn patrol. His airy light pancakes come plain or with banana, coconut or blueberry. Ro reworks the loco moco with a hash made from garlicky slow-roasted pork shaped into a patty accompanied by two eggs, house-made brown gravy and rice (you can choose fried rice for an additional $2). The takeout-only grill serves char siu pork to portobello burgers, New York steak to fresh mahi plates with the flair of fine cuisine (house-made sauces, mesclun greens, focaccia bread sandwiches). The market deli sells all you need for a fabulous meal — citrus jicama salad, grilled asparagus, lasagna, roasted pork loin — without fuss. Every neighborhood needs Ro's innovative take on fast food.
