2008 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - BEST FINE DINING RESTAURANT
Hy's Steak House
Hy's has an automatic regenerating clientele. Generations of kids have been brought here for their first “fancy dinner” experience, and they keep coming back to Hy's (and voting for it in the Ilima Awards). They probably don't even know Hy's started off as a chain based in Canada (but has since gone independent). What they love is the time-warp English manor house look, the tuxedoed waiters and tableside service. And then there are the steaks dry-aged on site and the flaming desserts. Just ask the manager how many engagement rings are handed over in the glow of Bananas Foster. Old-school 4 eva.
2440 Kuhio Ave. 922-5555. 6-10 p.m. Mondays-Fridays; 5:30-10 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays. Reservations recommended. Valet parking. AX, DC, DS, JCB, MC, VS. $$$$.
