CHEAP EATS
Kiawe Grill
Kiawe Grill, which added a third location in Aiea in 2007, specializes in Island-style barbecue Korean kal bi, but also steaks, chops, pork, beef, shrimp, saba (mackerel) and chicken. But it's all about the burgers get 'em made with buffalo, ostrich (super lean), venison or the best Kobe-style beef. And here they're seared over a kiawe-wood-burning fire, adding a layer of welcome smoky flavor. Also unusual: The Korean side salads and vegetables are self-serve.
