Café Kaila
It hasn't even been there a year, but Café Kaila already has a band of regulars who have sworn breakfast loyalty to the little Euro-style café in Market City. It must be the pancakes. Chef-owner Chrissie Castillo turns out hotcakes that are perfectly griddled, flecked with cinnamon and covered in pure maple syrup. The café offers 50 breakfast and lunch items under $15 in a charming dining room where Castillo also waits tables; her paninis and salads are just as good as the breakfast fare. It gets busy — go early and wait for a table.
Kapi'olani Blvd. 732-3330. 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays. Cash, checks. $-$$.
