BAKERIES
Ted's Bakery
Say "Ted's" to an Oahuan and the
automatic free association will be
"pies," although this bakery restaurant
on the remote North Shore
also serves cakes, danishes,
doughnuts and cinnamon rolls;
sandwiches, bentos, plate lunches
and breakfasts popular with surfers
and campers; and inexpensive
coffee. Owned by the Nakamura
family, who bought the land when
they were more likely to see a cow in
the pasture next door than a
loadful of tourists disembarking in
their parking lot, Ted's is especially
known for its two-tone, creamtopped
chocolate haupia pie, but
also does many other standards, including
cream and chiffon pies.
There are a few tables out front.
Ted's Pies are also available at some
supermarkets.
