CHEAP EATS
Boots & Kimo's Homestyle Kitchen
Barbecue for breakfast? Just ask the many regulars who crowd this family oriented breakfast-and-lunch-only restaurant for the pulehu (grilled) short ribs as well as heaping plates of American standards such as pancakes (with the restaurant's signature macadamia-nut syrup). Owned and operated by brothers Rick and Jesse Kiakona, the 13-year-old spot is named after their father and uncle. On weekends, expect to cool your heels on the sidewalk with locals and Japanese tourists.
131 Hekili St. Suite 102, Kailua. 263-7929. 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays- Fridays; 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturdays- Sundays. Cash only.
