BAKERIES
Champion Malasadas
The cars, they come; the
cars, they go — all day long at
this strictly takeout bakery
that specializes in ultra-light, Macaostyle
malassadas, which won an Advertiser
tasting some years ago, and
quite deservedly. Expect to wait; the
malassadas are made to order. And
don't expect warm fuzzy service or a
table to sit at. In business for 25
years, Champion also serves inexpensive
breakfast bentos, tempting
chocolate glazed doughnuts, hotcross
buns and melting mini chiffon
cakes. (Tip: Malassadas are best
eaten hot, before you even get out of
the parking lot.)
