Hundreds of people lined up to see Naveen Andrews, the Emmy-nominated star of the hit television series "Lost,'' at the Honolulu Marathon Expo.

Dressed in faded blue jeans, a blue silk shirt, and an afro-funk-style hat perched over his curly black hair, the British Andrews (of Indian descent) did not disappoint the throngs of patient fans, according to a news release from marathon organizers.

Terry Warren of Denver, Colorado was one who secured her place long before the actor arrived. "It’s so real,'' Warren gushed about the series. "They just picked the right set of people. It’s an awesome show.''

Lynn Nakayama’s perseverance earned her a kiss on the lips from Andrews. A devotee of the writing and producing, Nakayama had obtained autographs from every "Lost'' cast member except Evangeline Lilly.

Andrews stood and greeted each admirer with a handshake or a hug, then asked for a name to personalize the promotional photo he autographed. Often he posed for a picture or two before graciously thanking the person for stopping by.

"He’s taking a few minutes with everyone,'' said Nadia Zinyk of Ontario, Canada. "He’s being great!'' Zinyk confessed that her sister spent an hour and a half primping to meet Andrews. They were thrilled to bring along their mother, who recently recovered from a stroke.

"We’ve been here every day,'' said Zinyk, who plans to volunteer on race day. They, too, were prepared to come back for Evangeline Lilly. "She’s Canadian!''

Andrews was such a big draw that World Champion boxer Brian Viloria stopped by to greet him. And Viloria found himself giving Andrews an autograph.
