How do you describe your style? "I don't buy into trends. For example, I can't wear the skinny pant. I don't care if 50 million are wearing it, it won't work for me."
What's your favorite item in your closet? "My latest purchase a pair of Sesto Meucci hand-woven metallic flat mules. I now build my outfits around them. Metallics go with everything!"
What can you never get enough of? "Jeans; they're so versatile. It's hard to find jeans that work; when I find them, they're like gold."
Your faves? Mavi, Citizens for Humanity and 7s.
What would we never see you wearing? "Shorts unless I'm paddling. I have a knee complex. Anyway, shorts cut you off funny in the mid-thigh. And you'd never, ever ever see me in jeans shorts."
Who is your style icon? Why? "Scarlett Johansson. She's modern classic Hollywood."
What are you willing to pay more for to get top quality? "Jeans and dresses. A dress is a 'hole in one.' You don't have to think about it; you just put it on and you're done."
What's your best bargain buy ever? "Oh, wow! There are two and they're both Prada. One is a dark chocolate pencil skirt and the other is a gold lamĒ shell. I found them both on www.overstock.com."
Biggest self-indulgence? "Food. Going out to eat. I like the whole experience getting dressed up and spending time over a meal. I also love to cook, and I watch the Food Network every chance I get."
What are your favorite restaurants? "Formaggio, Little Village and La Mer."
Last movie you saw? "Harry Potter. I only see Harry Potter movies."
Last book you read? "I love the Harry Potter books too. ... I just read Gary Larsen's 'Prehistory of the Far Side,' about how he writes his cartoons and sort of where they come from."
Who cuts your hair? "Kevin Lee at Paul Brown I've gone to him for years."
What would we find in your handbag? "Sunglasses, checkbook, wallet, Chapstick, business-card case and 'U' mag. No seriously (she pulls it out) I do have 'U' mag in here."
Fashion pet peeve? "Tapered jeans. They don't flatter anyone."
What's on your iPod? "I don't have one. I'm not a techie. I only use the phone feature on my cell phone, too; I don't even text message it's faster to just dial."
Favorite hobbies? "Paddling and cooking."
Little-known fact about you? "I dream of having a specialty deli and grocery of my own. I even have a name for it: Four Corners, for the four corners of the world. I'd stock it with things that make dishes just that much better, like cured meats from Italy, cheeses from France and yogurts from Greece. I'd spend time in a grocery store before a department store any day."
Fashion philosophy? Yves Saint Laurent said it: "Fashion fades, style is eternal."
