Maui Jim Sunglasses has donated $100,000 to Hale Makua Health Services with the goal of encouraging other business to follow suit.

Hale Makua Health Services director of development Carlayna Nakamura said the group is thankful for the support in helping eliminate helplessness, loneliness and boredom in Maui residents. A portion of the donation will be used to purchase Tobii ATI specialized computer assistive equipment.

WHOLE FOODS HELPS FUND KAIMUKÏ PERFORMING ARTS

As part of Whole Foods Market Kahala's Community Support Day, the store will donate 5 percent of all proceeds collected today to the Kaimukī High School Performing Arts Center.

The Performing Arts Center is trying to reach a $10,000 fundraising goal to help cover expenses. It recently received a grant from the Hawai'i Arts Alliance, which will match any donation that it receives up to $5,000.

KUALI'I A HIDDEN GEM AT MÄNOA HERITAGE CENTER

Kuali'i, a historic home named for a king of O'ahu who died in 1730, sits on the grounds of the Mānoa Heritage Center, along with Kukao'o Heiau and a native Hawaiian garden.
