CBKB: Nevada lands 6-11 center recruit from KN juco

RENO, Nev. — Nevada's basketball team is shoring up its front line with a 6-foot-11 center who also was recruited by Pacific and South Carolina.
Illiwa Baldwin, a native of Australia, will have two years of eligibility with the Wolf Pack after spending the past two seasons at Pratt Community College in Kansas. He averaged better than 13 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game as a sophomore.
He'll be Nevada's first player taller than 6-foot-9 since JaVale McGee left for the NBA in 2008.
Baldwin told The Reno Gazette-Journal on Monday that in addition to liking the program and the coaching staff, he is an "outdoorsy sort of person" who loves the feel of the mountains and Nevada's high-desert.
