A hiker from the Mainland who appeared to be in his 50s died while hiking with friends on a trail in Makiki.

The hiker's friends called authorities after he collapsed around 3 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The man was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The Honolulu medical examiner's office did not release his identity yesterday.
