A 29-year-old Hawaii man was arrested early Wednesday after he allegedly bit a police officer on the leg while being arrested in Waikiki.
Police said a patrol officer saw a scuffle taking place on a sidewalk shortly before 4 a.m. and went to investigate.
A suspect in the scuffle ran away, but the officer caught up with and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree assault, police said.
They said that while the suspect was being arrested, he bit the officer on the leg and was then arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer.
A 27-year-old man involved in the scuffle that caught the officer's attention decided not to pursue a complaint against the other man.
