Assault charge filed after man allegedly bites officer
A 29-year-old man faces an assault charge after he allegedly bit a police officer on the leg while being arrested in Waikīkī.
Police said a patrol officer saw a scuffle taking place on a sidewalk shortly before 4 a.m. and went to investigate.
A participant in the scuffle ran away, but the officer caught up with him and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree assault, police said.
While the suspect was being arrested, he allegedly bit the officer on the leg. He was then also booked on suspicion of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer.
A 27-year-old man involved in the original scuffle decided not to pursue a criminal complaint against the other man.
