BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Prosecutors have dropped their case against three Sacred Heart University lacrosse players accused of conspiring to sexually assault a woman in a Connecticut dorm room.
A judge dismissed charges Wednesday against 18-year-old Nicholas Travers of Smithtown, N.Y. Prosecutors say they also won’t pursue charges against 18-year-old Zachari Triner, 18, of Mansfield, Mass., and 19-year-old Timothy Sanders of Ashburn, Va.
Sanders’ attorney Wayne Keeney says an investigation showed that Travers was not in the room at the time and that the other two didn’t commit a crime.
All three were charged in November with conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault. Sanders also was charged with first-degree unlawful restraint.
