Guitarists Yeaton and Werner to play Atherton

Advertiser Staff

Guitarists Chris Yeaton and Adam Werner make their Atherton debut Saturday, Feb. 27, with a Hawaiian music concert featuring different guitar styles.

Yeaton, who has toured nationally with slack key masters Keola Beamer and John Keawe, draws inspiration from traditional and contemporary Hawaiian guitarists to create his own progressive slack key style. Werner, whose album “Signatures” was nominated for a Best New Age Album Grammy in 2008, uses unconventional techniques on acoustic steel string and harp guitar. He is also the producer of “Woodsongs: An Acoustic Guitar Collection,” which features 17 previously unreleased guitar tracks from artists that include Yeaton and Keawe.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Hawaii Public Radio’s Atherton performing Arts Studio, 738 Kaheka St. Tickets are $25 general, $20 for HPR members and $15 for students with ID. Tickets will be available at the door. Visit www.hawaiipublicradio.org for more information or call 955-8821 during weekday business hours.
