Man, 28, arrested in armed robbery of pharmacy
Police arrested a 28-year-old Puna man after a man armed with a rifle allegedly demanded drugs from a pharmacy in the Puainako Town Center Tuesday.
Police said the robber was armed with a loaded 30.06 bolt-action rifle when he entered the pharmacy. No shots were fired, police said.
Police say the robber was detained by employees who disarmed him in a struggle. Two pharmacy employees were injured, police said, when a female was struck in the back of her head and a male sustained lacerations to his hands. Both refused medical treatment.
Police arrested Paul Santoro. He was also booked for an outstanding bench warrant.
Santoro complained of an injury to his arm and was treated at Hilo Medical Center.
