Kauai deaths thought murder-suicide

LĀWA'I, Kaua'i — Kaua'i police yesterday said the deaths of a man and a woman, whose bodies were found in a house here Tuesday morning, were from an apparent murder-suicide.

The bodies of Duane Bukoski, 38, of Lāwa'i and a 43-year-old woman were found at the house at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Police would only identify the woman as an acquaintance of Bukoski's.

Officials did not disclose the cause of death, whose home the bodies were at, or other details.

A man who identified himself as Bukoski's brother was putting up a no-trespassing sign on his parents' Lāwa'i property Wednesday morning. He said the sign was to keep members of the media, or anyone else, from bothering his parents at their home.

"I lost my brother and they lost a son," the man said. "I don't really know what happened. Police said the investigation is ongoing."

The Garden Island newspaper reported yesterday that friends and members of the woman's family in Kapa'a said she had been missing since Monday and that her truck had been recovered on the west side of Kaua'i .
