NFL: Dolphin quarterback Pat White taken to hospital

MIAMI — Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Pat White was carted off the field with a head injury Sunday following a helmet-to-helmet collision with Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor.
White landed on his stomach, and Steelers players immediately began waving for help. He moved his legs and rolled onto his side before being lifted onto the cart on his back, and he also moved his arms.
Air rescue was canceled for White, and he was transported by ground to a hospital.
Many Dolphins players and coach Tony Sparano walked across the field to gather around White as he was treated on the field, and a group of Steelers players knelt together in prayer. The collision came at the end of a 7-yard gain on a keeper by White in the third quarter.
Taylor was unhurt. The game resumed after a delay of 8 minutes.
White was in the game after starter Chad Henne suffered an eye injury late in the first half. Tyler Thigpen made his first appearance with the Dolphins as a replacement for White.
