TEMPE, Ariz. — Three games into the Pac-10 season, defending champion Washington isn't impressing anyone.

Rihards Kuksiks scored 27 points to match his career high and Arizona State dominated the No. 24 Huskies from the start in a 67-51 victory last night.

Ty Abbott added 17 points for the Sun Devils (1-2 Pac-10, 11-5), who led by 11 in the first half and 19 in the second in the Huskies' second Pac-10 loss in a row.

Isaiah Thomas led Washington (10-4, 1-2) with 20 points. Elston Turner was the only other Washington player in double figures with 10.

"They played great defense," Huskies coach Lorenzo Romar said. "We didn't have much going on the inside or outside."

Arizona State made 8 of 19 3-pointers, 5 of 8 by Kuksiks, while Washington was 3 of 14.

"I got some open looks and I made the first two," Kuksiks said. "Then from that point on my teammates did a good job of finding me and I just knocked my shots down."

Last-second win: DeAngelo Casto hit a twisting layup with 0.1 seconds left to give visiting Washington State (12-3, 2-1 Pac-10) a victory over Arizona (7-8, 1-2).

The Cougars set up the last shot after Arizona's Solomon Hill tipped in a missed shot to make it 76-76 with 13 seconds left.

Reggie Moore scored 20 to lead the Cougars. Casto had 16 points and nine rebounds.

NOTES

Tennessee: Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl dismissed forward Tyler Smith from the team yesterday, a week after his arrest with three other players on misdemeanor gun and drug charges. Pearl had suspended Smith, guard Cameron Tatum, center Brian Williams and point guard Melvin Goins after the Jan. 1 arrest.

Kayla Pedersen had 24 points and 14 rebounds to help visiting Stanford (12-1, 2-0 Pac-10) beat Southern California (8-6, 2-1). Nnemkadi Ogwumike added 21 points and 12 boards for the Cardinal.
