Speedskating: South Korea dominates at short track worlds

SOFIA, Bulgaria — South Korea has dominated the first day of the short track speedskating world championships, sweeping the men’s and women’s 1,500-meter races.
Yoon-Gy Kwak clocked 2 minutes, 24.316 seconds to win the men’s 1,500 title Friday, leaving the silver to Si-Bak Sung and bronze to Ho-Suk Lee.
J.R. Celski of the United States finished fourth, ahead of Thibaut Fauconnet of France and Travis Jayner of the U.S.
Seung-Hi Park took the women’s 1,500 in 2:21.570, beating teammates Eun-Byul Lee and Ha-Ri Cho.
Katherine Reutter of the U.S. finished fourth, ahead of Kalyna Roberge of Canada and Jorien Ter Mors of the Netherlands.
