NEW YORK — LSU senior Susan Jackson has won the Honda Award as the nation's top female college gymnast.
Jackson was this year's all-around NCAA champion. The Honda Award winner was picked by balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools.
A native of Spring, Texas, Jackson became the first LSU gymnast to win the all-around. She also won a national title on the beam and was second on the vault. Jackson earned All-America honors 12 times in her career.
The other finalists were Carly Janiga of Stanford, Brandi Personett of Penn State and Sarah Shire of Missouri.
