TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"Teen Choice Awards," 7 p.m., Fox. Expect lots of pop music here. Gwen Stefani sings "Hollaback Girl" and Simple Plan sings "Untitled (How Could This Happen to Me?)." The Black Eyed Peas and Pussycat Dolls also perform. Hilary Duff and Rob Schneider host, with lots of presenters and winners. All of the cutest Jesses (McCartney, Metcalf) and Jessicas (Simpson, Alba) will be there.
"Tommy Lee Goes to College" debut, 8 and 8:30 p.m., NBC. Yes, Tommy Lee — the once-infamous Motley Crue drummer — has just spent most of a semester on the University of Nebraska campus. Beyond that, this show wobbles between reality show and fiction.
OF NOTE
"NCIS," 7 p.m., CBS. Most people dismiss a sailor who claims monsters are after her. Gibbs, however, feels there might be a stalker.
"According to Jim," 7 and 8 p.m., ABC. In the first rerun, Jim causes a family stir by growing a mustache. In the second, he and Cheryl are stressed by their daughter's spelling bees.
"Rescue Me," 7 p.m., FX. The spotlight turns to Tommy's wife Janet, played by the terrific Andrea Roth. It turns out that she's cheered up and wants Tommy back because she's on antidepressants.
