The Willows pours it on with Best of the British tasting event

The Willows, where chef Jay Matsukawa is making lots of changes, is hosting Best of the British, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, a tasting of British beers paired with a pupu menu featuring beer-batter fish and chips, shepherd's pie and herb-stuffed salmon.

Another in the restaurant's Hops & Grinds pau hana events, the tasting will include beers from Bass, Boddingtons, Fuller's, Melbourn Brothers, Scottish & Newcastle, Samuel Smith and Traquair. Tickets are $20 in advance at The Willows, The Liquor Collection, The Wine Stop and Tamura's; $25 at the door. Information: 271-9701.

POWER UP WITH 3-COURSE LUNCH AT L'URAKU

  • L'Uraku has a launched Executive Power Lunch — a three-course lunch including salad and sorbet or ice cream for dessert and a choice of entrees, including braised pork cheeks, filet mignon or seared 'ahi. Cost is $24-$26, served weekdays only. 955-0552.
