Grand Canyon tops HPU in hoops

Rich Davis scored 29 points, including 7 of 10 from 3-point range, as Grand Canyon beat Hawai'i Pacific, 87-77, yesterday at Phoenix.
Audrius Peciukas led the way for the Sea Warriors with 24 points and 11 rebounds, his fourth double-double of the season.
HPU got within 78-73 with 1:25 left, but couldn't get any closer.

HPU TEAMS IN FINAL
HPU Green and HPU White will meet for the Men's Island Soccer Organization fall season title Sunday at 3 p.m. at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
HPU Green beat Latin Hawai'i, 4-1, yesterday and HPU White beat the HSC Bulls, 3-0.
In Division II, Vaiete Premier and Faded will play for the title Sunday at 1 p.m.
Yesterday, Vaiete Premier beat Focus, 5-3, on penalty kicks, after playing to a scoreless tie after regulation and overtime. Faded beat H2 United, 4-1, in the other match.

MASINGALL PREVAILS
Brandon Masingall won three times yesterday to claim the Francis H. Brown Match Play Invitational at Mauna Lani Resort.
Masingall, a member of the Hawai'i-Hilo golf team, beat Kevin Shimomura (3 and 2), Colin Gillian (1-up) and Drew Surmeier (5 and 4 in final).
