'Elf' first of three Sunset movies at Queen's beach

Sunset on the Beach returns with a three-night series at Queen's Surf Beach in Waikiki, sponsored by the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl. Tonight's pre-film entertainment even includes the premiere of IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre's new piece, "Electric Blue."

Tonight's film on that 30-foot screen is "Elf," starring Will Ferrell as a human who thought he was Santa's helper. Tomorrow's is the classic "White Christmas," starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney, preceded by the animated "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Monday's film is "The Longest Yard," the football remake starring Adam Sandler.

Sunset on the Beach events begin at 3 p.m. with food booths; entertainment begins at 4 p.m., and films hit the screen after sunset. Admission is free. 923-1094.
