Now that all the holiday hoopla is over, you can take a break to see some of those movies you've been hearing so much about.
High on that list should be "King Kong," the special-effects extravaganza directed by Peter Jackson, who brought "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy to the screen.
Then there's "Memoirs of a Geisha," widely praised as one of the most lovely films to come out of Hollywood. Whether or not it's true to Japanese traditions ... well, that's show biz!
The acclaimed "Munich," by Steven Spielberg, explores the cycle of violence that surrounds Israelis and Palestinians and much of the rest of the world.
For pure entertainment and over-the-top silliness, "The Producers" should fill the bill nicely.
Also still playing: "Capote," with a fine performance by Philip Seymour Hoffman as the groundbreaking writer; and "Good Night, and Good Luck," about Edward R. Murrow's campaign against the red-baiting Sen. Joseph McCarthy.
