Need some paper? Look no farther than your own backyard.

Learn how to make paper out of plants such as ginger, banana and sisal at a workshop 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday at The Green House in Pauoa Valley.

Organizers of the workshop, which is part of The Green House's Keiki Explorer Club, will share the steps to papermaking, from seed to sheet.

Cost is $5 for a parent and child (for ages 5 and up) or 100 HI-5 bottles or cans. To register: thehawaiigreenhouse@verizon.net or 524-8427.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

TRY THESE SPACE-SAVING STRATEGIES

Toss those space-consuming CD and DVD jewel cases and store your music and movies in a CD/DVD binder instead. You can organize them with tabs.

That's just one of dozens of clutter-busting tips offered in Good Housekeeping's "The Complete Clutter Solution: Organize Your Home for Good" (Hearst Books, $19.95).

Other strategies:

  • Color code what you store in the attic: holiday decorations in red boxes, clothes in green, etc.

  • Use free plastic grocery bags to cut costs on garbage bags. Store them at the bottom of a garbage pail.

    FINAL WORD

"The problem for most people who want to be successful is not that they can't achieve success. The main obstacle for them is that they misunderstand success."
