Rams rally behind Auelua's 16 kills

Alzie Auelua had 16 kills and Melanie Faaliga added 18 digs as No. 2 seed Radford survived a scare from Sacred Hearts, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21, in a quarterfinal match yesterday during the HHSAA/NewCityNissan.com Girls State Division II Volleyball Championships at Radford High School.
The Rams will face Maryknoll at 8 tonight in the second semifinal. Kaimuki plays St. Francis in the early semifinal at 6:30.
Keila Ah Mow led the Lancers with 10 kills, and Lauren Wong added seven.
No. 1 ST. FRANCIS DEF. KAISER: Kawena Cubi-Otineru had a match-high 12 kills as the top-seeded Troubadours swept Kaiser, 25-13, 25-20. Chanelle Esteban led the Cougars with six kills.
MARYKNOLL DEF. No. 3 SEABURY HALL: Heather Mau slammed 11 kills and Kristen Ho added 18 digs as Maryknoll upset MIL champion Seabury Hall, 25-21, 25-23.
KAIMUKI DEF. No. 4 HONOKA'A: Alyssia Fiamate put down 12 kills and Louise Fiamate had seven digs as the Bulldogs upset BIIF Division II champion Honoka'a, 25-18, 25-13. Kaimuki committed just 12 errors and hit .365 for the match.
CONSOLATION
KAPA'A DEF. HANA: Poerava Gantt had seven kills as Kapa'a won, 25-13, 25-17. Kapa'a plays the winner of today's Konawaena-St. Joseph's match in tomorrow's seventh-place match.
