TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Heroes Under Fire," 8 p.m., History Channel. In 1968, a nine-man Special Forces team had a secret mission in Laos. Suddenly, it faced thousands of North Vietnamese soldiers. The odds were stunning, but the men persisted. They even built a fortress of stacked corpses. At one point, a weaponless American came across two nervous young soldiers. He held his hands up, walked directly at them — and grabbed one rifle with each hand. This is a bizarre story, solidly told here with re-enactments and the memories of survivors.

OF NOTE

"Saving Private Ryan" (1998, TNT) and "Jurassic Park" (1993, Bravo), both 6 p.m. Steven Spielberg is a great director, so his films vary only with the story. "Saving Private Ryan" is about men in combat. "Jurassic Park" is about naughty dinosaurs.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. Estella Warren — who starred recently in crossover "Law & Order" episodes — has another key guest role. She plays a friend of Melinda, bringing painful teen memories.

"The Wizard of Oz" (1939), 7 p.m., TBS. Here's a chance to catch the classic family musical.

"Hot Properties," 8:30 p.m., ABC. The women go to an "Oprah" show, but Ava loses her ticket. Oprah's pal, Gayle King, has a cameo.

"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. Colin Hanks guests as a mathematician.
