"Thanksgiving as we know it today has not been celebrated continuously since 1621. War and violence between Europeans and Native Americans has caused some native people to observe a day of mourning on the last Thursday in November," according to a release from Native Winds Gallery in Kaimuki.
That's just one of the facts and stories that will be shared from 11 a.m. to noon today at a free Family Story Hour at the gallery (1152 Koko Head Ave., second level.) This is the last in a series marking American Heritage Month.
Free and open to the public. 734-8018.
