Rainy weather forces BIIF to postpone weekend games
Advertiser Staff
Inclement weather has forced the postponement or cancellation of all Big Island Interscholastic Federation athletic events scheduled this weekend.
"It's sunny on the Kona side," said Lyle Crozier, Konawaena athletic director and BIIF football coordinator. "But apparently it's pouring in Hilo."
A decision was made about 8:30 a.m. yesterday by a Department of Education official. "I think the biggest concern was transportation and safety," Crozier said.
The Wildcats were supposed to host Kea'au for homecoming last night, but that game, along with the Ka'u-Waiakea game, have been moved to Nov. 4. Tonight's games between Kamehameha and Hilo at Wong Stadium, Honoka'a at Hawai'i Prep and Kealakehe at Kohala have been rescheduled to Nov. 5.
Today's scheduled cross country meet at Waiakea will not be made up. Bowling, air riflery and volleyball matches are expected to be made up at another time.
Crozier said BIIF executive secretary Keith Morioka will make all final decisions on scheduling.

GOLF
DEMO DAY RAINED OUT
The Super Demo Day scheduled for today at Ko Olina Golf Club has been postponed because of the bad weather. The soldout Ko Olina Rally For A Cure Golf Tournament also will not be held, but those who entered can come out to the course today — weather permitting — to play a free round and enjoy the "post-tournament awards ceremony" at Roy's Ko Olina.
Golfers who registered for the tournament also will receive a free round of golf to be used later. Tournament prizes will be distributed as door prizes tonight at the party.
The tournament is a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The demo day and free clinics will be rescheduled in November.
For information, call Ko Olina at 676-5300, ext. 1.
