KANAHA CAMP DUE FOR CLEANING
KAHULUI — The Maui County Department of Parks and Recreation will close its Kanaha campsite near Kahului Airport from Tuesday through Sept. 22 to allow for a major cleanup of the site and restoration of damaged facilities.
"With summer drawing to a close and kids back in school, this seemed like an ideal time to clean up the campsite," said recreation official Jason Lopez. "There are several areas within the campsite that are smelly and unsanitary, and we need time to really give the campsite a thorough going over."
WOMEN WILL REGISTER CONCERNS
WAILUKU — The Maui County Committee on the Status of Women is sponsoring "Women Speak Up!" — a free open-microphone event to be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 28.
The event, part of Women's Health Month, will provide women an opportunity to register their concerns, participate in a survey on women's issues and get a free copy of the 2005 Women's Resource Guide. Refreshments will be served. For more information, reach Jan Roberson at (808) 298-8254.
