The cell phone is becoming an important source of information for emergency personnel after a British paramedic came up with the idea of asking users to input an entry into their phone book called ICE (for "in case of emergency"). That acronym refers to the name and phone numbers of the person who should be called if something has happened to you. The London terror attacks gave the campaign plenty of exposure, and now U.S. paramedics want to encourage ICE. Word is spreading in the U.S. via news reports and word of mouth.
