Two men arrested after authorities seized 35 pounds of crystal methamphetamine from a Waipahu home last week have been ordered held without bail.
Federal Magistrate Kevin Chang overruled defense objections and granted a request by Assistant U.S. Attorney Florence Nakakuni to hold Antonio Santos, 37, and Francis M. Honda, 46, during their criminal prosecution.
Nakakuni argued that two pose a danger and may flee if released on bail.
The ice seizure was the largest here since the 1980s.
Santos is accused of conspiring with Charles Lee Ranney Jr., 27, of Las Vegas, to smuggle drugs from the Nevada city to Honolulu. Honda is charged with possessing ice.
A federal affidavit filed in court said the conspiracy was responsible for about 79 pounds of the ice delivered here since mid-2004. Ranney is described as the supplier, Santos as his associate and Honda as a dealer who purchased the ice at wholesale prices, according to the affidavit.
The 35 pounds was given to Honda by Ranney and stored at the Waipahu home of Honda's friend, the affidavit said.
Ranney was arrested in Las Vegas last week and also ordered held without bail. He will be transferred to Honolulu to face the charge.
The charges against the three carry prison terms of 10 years to life.
