Former University of Hawai'i soccer standout Natasha Kai was picked for a two-game trip to Japan with the U.S. national women's team.

The United States plays exhibition games against Japan in Kumamoto on May 7 and Osaka on May 9.

Kai, a three-time Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, was the first female from Hawai'i named to the U.S. national team when she participated in the Algarve Cup in mid-March in southern Portugal.

The Kahuku High alum suffered a minor head injury in a championship game loss to Germany.

The other forwards on the U.S. roster are Kristine Lilly, Heather O'Reilly, Abby Wambach and Christie Welsh.
