'Silk Road' flower show in full bloom at Academy of Arts

Advertiser Staff

After (or before) you join the crowd at the Spring New Products Show and Hawaii Boat Show, you can join the other crowd at the nearby Honolulu Academy of Arts, where "The Silk Road," the flower show by The Garden Club of Honolulu, is in full bloom.

The show takes its theme from the ancient Silk Road, the trade route between the far reaches of the East and ports such as Constantinople and Venice in the West.

It's a competitive event, with entries in horticulture, flower arrangement, photography and plant-based "jewelry."

These shows by the garden club are highly anticipated, as they occur only every few years. The last was in 2003.

Admission is free. It's from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and 1 to 5 p.m. tomorrow.
