Drake Tanabe, has been named director of support services for the University of Hawai'i Federal Credit Union. He will oversee the loan, electronic services, human resources, training, compliance, accounting and information technology departments for the 51-year-old full-service financial institution. Other changes at the credit union — comprising UH employees, students, alumni, faculty, family members and affiliated organizations: Randy Iwashita was named new UHFCU controller and finance team leader. He will oversee all asset management, including investment portfolios and the accounting department; Joyce Okabe was appointed database/marketing team leader, responsible for UHFCU's core database marketing system, and overall marketing programs; Travis Bow was promoted to information security and systems team leader, including managing the disaster recovery and business continuity planning, records and facilities management divisions; Elden Ogoshi is the new member relations team leader, overseeing UHFCU's call center, development of member products and services, and managing other member relations representatives.
The Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association has elected a new slate of officers: president, Cy Bridges, noted chanter, kumu hula, and theater director for Polynesian Cultural Center; vice president, Maile Meyer, founder and president of Native Books Inc./Na Mea Hawai'i; secretary, Jace McQuivey; vice president/ general counsel, Hawaii Reserves Inc.; and treasurer, Mike White, general manager, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel. The association was formed in 1997 to promote Hawaiian culture, values and traditions in the workplace.
BEN DOWLING has assumed partial ownership of Nick's Fishmarket. He was previously vice president and general manager of the Waikiki eatery.
Locally owned and managed Island Insurance Co. Ltd. has named VALERIE KATZ vice president of claims.
CLAYTON WONG, a consulting structural engineer and five-year Rotary Club member, has been elected president of the Rotary Club of Ala Moana. Other officers include president-elect nominee, DAVE BERRY; vice president, SUE ANN LEE; secretary, RICH COURSON; treasurer, GWENETTE HIGA; sergeants-at-arms, STEVE VOIGHT and RICHARD KAGEHIRO. There are approximately 2,200 Rotarians in Hawai'i's 41 Rotary clubs.
MICHAEL PERSON has been promoted to director of marketing for Panda Travel. He was previously online marketing manager for panda online.com.
