TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"The 48th Annual Grammy Awards," 7 p.m., CBS. This show is so stuffed with talent that — even without a host — it goes beyond the usual three hours. Mariah Carey, Kanye West and John Legend lead with eight nominations each. Tonight, West sings with Jamie Foxx, and Carey sings with Hezekiah Walker and Love Fellowship, and Legend is part of a tribute to Sly and the Family Stone. Also performing: Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay and Sugarland. U2 will link with Mary J. Blige, Faith Hill with Keith Urban, Christina Aguilera with Herbie Hancock. The tribute to Sly includes Ciara, Joss Stone, Maroon 5, Robert Randolph and Devin Lima, plus will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas, and Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith. Don't tune in to see the Grammy for best Hawaiian music album: Once again, that category will not be televised.
OF NOTE
"Veronica Mars," 4 p.m., UPN (KIKU). The class trip money, $12,000, disappeared when Veronica was supposed to be watching it.
"American Idol," 7 p.m., Fox. The lucky contestants who have passed initial muster are in Hollywood and face more intense competition.
"The Biggest Loser: Special Edition," 7 p.m., NBC. Two engaged couples — from Los Angeles and Hawai'i — compete for a $50,000 wedding package. After 12 days on the ranch, they continue at home. A final weigh-in decides the winner.
"Lost," 8 p.m., ABC. A kidnapping attempt leaves strong emotions. Meanwhile, there is anger and suspicion among Jack, Kate, Locke and Ana Lucia.
"Law & Order," 9 p.m., NBC. A rich teen accused of murder has a high-powered lawyer (Kathleen Turner).
