Stolen checks lead to arrest

A 21-year-old man was arrested in Makaha Monday as a suspect in a stolen check cashing spree that netted about $30,000 over a three-week period last month.

Police arrested the suspect's spouse on Jan. 23 and only recently identified the man arrested Monday as an additional suspect in the case. He was found at a Lahilahi Street apartment and taken into custody for suspicion of four counts of second-degree forgery and four counts of second-degree theft.


MAN, 24, ACCUSED IN BOY'S STABBING

Police on Monday arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of stabbing a 16-year-old boy during a confrontation last month between two groups of young men at Haha'ione Neighborhood Park in Hawai'i Kai.

The boy was treated and released from The Queen's Medical Center after being stabbed about 12:20 a.m. Jan. 20.

Police said the victim was able to identify the suspect via a photographic lineup.
