Want to start the new year with a clutter-free home? Consider these tips from Patty Grenda, creator of the Family Planner, a daily scheduler for busy families:

  • Set goals for yourself and establish an overall game plan.

  • Make the toughest room your priority.

  • Eliminate distractions; turn off phones and TVs.

  • Sort through and categorize your clutter into specific groups, such as, storage, garbage and rummage sale.

  • Reward yourself after reaching each goal.

    The O'ahu Invasive Species Committee needs help 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Jan. 14 to conduct a survey of the invasive plant Miconia calvescens.
