The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is seeking a record-breaking operating budget for 2007 of $92 million — $15 million more than what was set aside for this year.
Peter Young, chairman of the board of the Department of Land and Natural Resources, presented the department's budget plans to the House Finance Committee yesterday.
At the top of the department's list are $1 million to help establish Environmental Education Centers statewide and $702,000 to beef-up security at state parks.
It also addresses the chief complaint among park visitors with an additional $486,000 to give the parks' bathrooms a semi-monthly power wash.
