Moniz, Vercruyssen at Elite trampoline camp

Hawai'i's Matt Moniz and Nani Vercruyssen are attending the U.S. Elite Trampoline Team Training Camp this week in San Diego.
Moniz, an 18-year-old from 'Aiea High School, is on the USA Gymnastics Senior (18-older) Elite Double Mini-Trampoline International Team. He is ranked No. 5 among senior elites. Last September, he was seventh in the 17-18 age group in the double mini-trampoline at the International Age Group Games in The Netherlands.
Vercruyssen, a 13-year-old from Kaimuki Middle School, is on the USA Gymnastics Junior (under 18) Elite Trampoline and Double Mini-Trampoline International teams. She is ranked No. 1 in the United States in both events. She won the world championship in the 13-14 age group in the double mini-trampoline at the International Age Group Games last September.
A yearlong series of events begins Feb. 4 with the Winter Classic at the Olympic Training Center in Birmingham, Ala.
