Advertiser Staff

A 33-year-old Wahiawa man was arrested yesterday and is under investigation for allegedly holding two children's hands to a hot stove.

Police said the girls, ages 4 and 6, suffered second-degree burns after they were forced to place their hands on an electric range stove top. The incident occurred Jan. 13, police said.

Yesterday, the man turned himself in at the Wahiawa police station and was booked on two counts of second-degree assault. Charges were pending last night.

BANK ROBBED AGAIN BY CROSS-DRESSER

For the second time in a week, the Kalihi branch of American Savings Bank was robbed yesterday by a man dressed as a woman.

Police said the man entered the bank at 1851 North King St. about 12:15 p.m. and handed a teller a demand note. The man was given an undisclosed amount in cash and fled.

On Jan. 20, a man dressed in a purple and pink floral dress and white curly wig robbed the same branch. That incident occurred at about 5:15 p.m.

Police did not say if the same man was involved in both robberies.

ARREST MADE IN CREDIT CARD FRAUD

A 34-year-old man with no local address was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making unauthorized charges last month to a credit card belonging to a 71-year-old woman.

Police said the credit card holder noticed a number of unauthorized charges had been made to her card on Dec. 17 and asked her adult son about it.

The son told police he let a friend borrow a car and forgot his mother's credit card was in it. The credit card holder told police she confronted her son's friend about the charges and that he admitted to using the card without authorization.

The suspect was arrested at a Portlock Road address in Hawai'i Kai yesterday for suspicion of fraudulent use of a credit card.

SUSPECTED THIEF'S ATTACKERS ARRESTED

A husband and wife who live on the former Barbers Point Naval Air Station were arrested Wednesday for allegedly terrorizing and assaulting a 23-year-old man who they believe stole their car.

Police said the couple confronted a neighbor and that the husband, 44, repeatedly threatened the man with a golf club.

When the suspected car thief tried to run away, the wife, 44, threw a metal pipe at him, hitting the man in the back and causing a minor injury, police said.

Police were called and arrested the couple for first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree assault.

STALLED CAR LEADS TO WOMAN'S ARREST

A 26-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle after the car she was driving stalled on the H-1 Freeway's Waipahu exit ramp.

Police said a motorcycle officer noticed the car, which was pulled off on the shoulder lane with its emergency flashers on, at about 6 a.m. and stopped to see what was wrong.

The lone female driver told the officer she had run out of gas, police said.

The officer did a routine check on the car's registration and learned from police dispatchers that a used car dealer had reported it stolen. The officer then arrested the driver without incident.
