TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"Rock Star: Supernova," 7 p.m., CBS. CBS launched the new era of network reality shows with "Survivor" and "Big Brother" in the summer of 2000. Now the network — which scuttled "Tuesday Night Book Club" after two weeks — has its most important stretch of the summer. It will be "Rock Star" tonight, then the introduction of the "Big Brother All-Stars" on Thursday. The first "Rock Star" sought a singer for INXS. The new one has a new group Supernova. Tommy Lee of Motley Crue is on drums with Gilby Clarke of Guns n' Roses on guitar and Jason Newsted on bass. That leaves an opening for the singer. In tonight's 90-minute episode, hosted by Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke, we meet the contestants and see some auditions.
OF NOTE
"So You Think You Can Dance," 7 p.m., Fox. Reality competitions collide as this goes against the "Rock Star" debut. There are 14 contestants tonight; two will be dumped tomorrow.
"America's Got Talent," 7 and 8 p.m., NBC. Here's one more piece of the reality overload. First is a rerun of last week's episode. Then is a new hour. That will wrap up the auditions with the semifinals starting next week.
"The George Lopez Show," 7 p.m., ABC. Andy Garcia guest stars as Ray, the long-lost brother of George's wife, Angie. He's suddenly back and being nice to the Lopezes and to his daughter Veronica. However, George suspects this is just another Ray scam.
"Lost," 8 and 9 p.m., ABC. Here are two particularly powerful reruns. In the first, the tail-section people — led by the intense Ana Lucia — have taken the raft survivors on a forced march, endangering Sawyer's health. When they finally reach the camp, there's a tragedy. In the second, Kate watches over the ill Sawyer. We also learn about the crime that got Kate arrested.
"Law & Order," 9 p.m., NBC. A man has been killed after destroying a precious Hebrew Torah.
